As we opened the doors for a brand-new school year at Little Olive Tree Preschools, the excitement was contagious. Parents waved goodbye—some with teary eyes, others with big smiles—trusting us to take care of their little ones. It’s a beautiful reminder of our shared mission: to love, nurture, and guide these precious children.
Here at Little Olive Tree Preschools, we ground everything we do in the values of truth, beauty, and goodness. They not only shape how we teach, care for, and inspire our children, they are the very fundamentals of our call to ministry.
Truth is where learning starts. In our classrooms, we encourage children to be curious and honest. This week, our teachers introduced fun activities that got the children asking questions and exploring their surroundings. It’s all about helping them discover truths about themselves and the world.
We recognise the insufficiency of merely teaching children knowledge. We need to whet the children’s appetite to go on their own quests for knowledge, and invoke a curiosity that is restless and relentless in pursuing their interests.
Beauty is all around us, and we help our children see it in everything. Whether it’s through the colorful artwork on the walls or the friendships forming in the playground, beauty is a big part of our daily life. This week, we did creative projects that let the children express themselves and appreciate the beauty in diversity and imagination.
Goodness is at the heart of our community. We focus on kindness, empathy, and respect. Our first-week activities were all about building a sense of belonging. Through group games and shared stories, the children learned how to be kind, help each other, and see the goodness in themselves and their friends. As Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
We see each child as a unique individual with limitless potential. Our promise to love and nurture every child is evident in the way we connect with them. This week, we worked hard to create a warm, welcoming space where every child felt safe and valued. Our amazing teachers took the time to really get to know each child—their likes, dislikes, and what makes them tick. Through one-on-one attention and lots of positive encouragement, we started building strong, trusting relationships.
However, starting school can also be an intense and scary one. Surrounded by new faces in a new environment, there were children who arrived in tears, feeling the weight of separation from their parents. But as the days went by, those tears transformed into smiles and laughter, setting many parents' minds at ease. It was a delight to witness this transformation!
We’re so excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the trust parents have placed in us. Gearing for the road ahead, we aim to create a loving community where every child can shine and feel truly at home at Little Olive Tree Preschools!
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
