Last Saturday, we thanked God for His blessings and provision for LOT Foochow Methodist Church Farrer Park (FMC FP) for the past 60 years, ever since its beginnings as Foochow Methodist Church Kindergarten.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
During the dedication service, Rev Dr Gregory Goh Nai Lat, Conference Officials & Board Chairs (2021 – 2024), shared a message about the purpose and importance of Christian preschools in advancing God’s kingdom. He urged churches and co-labourers in the ministry to realign the mission and vision of the preschools that they serve.
Along the way, many churches seem to have forgotten about the true reason for setting up preschools and are considering it to be more like an enterprise or business instead. Rev Dr Goh also highlighted how the secular world supports a lot of unbiblical teaching about children's identity, such as the LGBTQIA+ movement. All the more in such a climate, Christian preschools have an essential role to play in giving the children the right foundational beliefs from a young age. Ultimately, we must remember that our Christian preschools are meant to bring God’s love and light to the children and families, providing them with a safe and welcoming community regardless of their backgrounds. It was also really heartwarming and encouraging to see the school’s milestones over the years and how far God has brought the team thus far. Check it out in this video below!
Lastly, we had a commemorative ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate LOT FMCFP to the Lord once again, and to celebrate the conversion of the preschool from a kindergarten to a childcare to better serve the needs of families and the community.
All glory to God and may LOT FMC FP continue to be a beacon of light to the neighbourhood and everyone who walks through our doors.
