Meet Teacher Michelle, one of the newest teachers at PPS!
Michelle Soberano was the newest “kid” on the block. She joined us in January after her previous centre closed down because of low enrolment. She was heartbroken.
“I really loved my previous centre, so my heart was still left there,” she solemnly admitted.
“I guess my adjustments were more emotional because I worked well with my previous colleagues, so I was a bit worried whether or not I could work well with my present colleagues.”
Her worries and apprehensions were not hers alone. Many who joined a new centre would have similar fears. Hence, other than inducting a staff into the day-to-day operations of the centre, it is important to embrace her fully as a person and not just a teacher. An induction must show love and care to a new member to the family.
Having said all these, I wanted to know if PPS is doing a good job in welcoming a new staff. Hence, I touched base with Michelle to find out more…
Michelle shared that as she during her first week at PPS, her fears of not fitting in dissipated very quickly. “The moment I stepped into PPS, they warmly welcomed me! Everyone was so helpful and approachable, it made me feel like I was back at my previous preschool,” she relievingly explained.
“Once I saw that my colleagues were really very nice and that I could work with them, it then dawned on me that there was actually not much adjusting to do!”
But what about her Principal? Is she cold? Is she apathetic?
“What is she like?” I asked, burning with curiosity.
“She is strict of course… but my Principal is very helpful and nurturing as a leader. If I have any doubts, I would just go to the principal’s office and ask her for clarification. She would then provide a clear explanation to me!” She enthusiastically revealed.
Fast forward to 3 months later, does she still feel valued and appreciated? “For the months that I have worked in PPS, not only am I feeling comfortable here, but I am also enjoying my stay,” she told me.
“I am happy to have met many nice people in my centre and I am looking forward to more fruitful years in PPS!”
